User research and testing
Maze: features, use cases and evaluation guide
Maze supports participant recruitment, research studies and reporting for product decisions. Product source
Official sources reviewed . This is a public product overview, not a hands-on review or growth ranking.
Who is Maze for?
Its listed roles include researchers, designers and product managers. Audience source
What can it do?
- Recruit participants through a panel or an existing community. Source
- Run prototype tests, interviews, surveys and live website studies. Source
- Review automated reports, clips and research findings. Source
These are vendor-described capabilities. Availability, usage limits and permissions can vary by plan; a listed feature is not a guarantee of fit for your workflow.
How to check pricing
Use Maze’s official pricing page for current plans. This profile does not quote a price or assume that every listed capability is included in the lowest-cost plan.
Compare the same workload: required users, external collaborators, usage allowances, billing interval and add-ons. Write down the total for your intended setup and the date checked. A monthly equivalent billed annually is not the same commitment as a cancel-any-month plan.
Questions to test before choosing Maze
Use these Night Watcher evaluation prompts in a small pilot. They are research questions, not claims that the product has a particular limitation.
- Do participants match the audience that will use the product? Validate the screener with real inclusion and exclusion examples.
- Can someone complete the test without hints from the task wording? Pilot the study before recruiting the full sample.
- Does the prototype contain enough behavior to answer the research question? Separate prototype limitations from usability findings.
- How will you verify an automatically generated theme? Compare the report with a sample of original sessions, including unsuccessful attempts.
Build a comparison you can act on
Record one real task, the result you need, the required plan, migration effort and evidence from your pilot. Include your existing workflow as an alternative.
