Smart Copy alternatives after the Unbounce shutdown
Smart Copy has closed. Compare replacement options for rewriting, team campaigns and landing-page copy, with practical checks before switching tools.
Find an AI market worth building in before anyone big claims it.
Every Monday we run every tracked search through four checks: buyers are looking for a tool, demand is rising, advertisers pay real money for every click, and a focused new site can still reach the first page. The few that pass are that week's openings.

Unbounce's standalone Smart Copy app closed on January 28, 2026. If you are replacing it, start with the work you actually used it for: revising a paragraph, creating campaign copy, or writing inside a landing page. Those jobs do not all need the same replacement.
Wordtune is worth investigating for rewriting existing text. Jasper deserves a look when several people need to develop campaign content together. If you already use Unbounce's landing-page builder, check its built-in AI text features before adding another subscription.
These are different starting points, not a ranking of writing quality. The useful test is whether a tool helps you produce publishable work with less correction.
What happened to Smart Copy?
Unbounce's discontinuation notice confirms the standalone app's closure. Its March 28, 2026 deadline for requesting saved content has also passed. An old guide promising access to Smart Copy or an export during that recovery window is out of date.
The closure did not remove AI copy support from Unbounce's landing-page builder, and Unbounce's current Smart Copy page now uses the name for those built-in features. That distinction matters: retaining a feature in another product does not mean the original app is still available.
Choose a replacement for the task
| Your main task | Option to investigate | What to test |
|---|---|---|
| Rewrite text you have already drafted | Wordtune | Whether revisions preserve your meaning and improve the passage |
| Develop campaign content with a team | Jasper Canvas | Whether the workspace fits your actual editing and review process |
| Edit copy inside an existing Unbounce landing page | Unbounce builder AI text | Whether the built-in functions cover the changes you need |
Keep the shortlist small. If you only need help editing occasional paragraphs, a broader campaign platform may add work you do not need.
Wordtune: start with a paragraph you already know
Wordtune describes rewriting suggestions, formal and casual tone changes, and proofreading. Those functions make it a candidate when your main problem is improving an existing draft rather than organizing an entire campaign.
Try a passage with a detail that must survive the edit: a delivery deadline, a qualification on a claim, or a precise product limitation. Compare the suggested version with the original. A smoother sentence is not an improvement if it quietly changes what you promise.

Judge the result in context, too. A rewritten sentence can sound good on its own while repeating the paragraph before it or clashing with the rest of the page.
Jasper: check whether you need a shared campaign workspace
Jasper Canvas is presented as a collaborative marketing workspace for creating, editing and scaling campaigns. That is a broader job than finding a replacement sentence generator.
For example, a team preparing a product launch might need to work on a landing page, emails and social copy together. In that situation, assess how the workspace fits your brief, feedback and handoff process. If you work alone and only need a few text variations, compare the extra setup with the simpler process you already have.
Do not treat the platform's campaign claims as proof of better sales. Check the specific functions and access included in the plan you would buy, then test whether they remove a real bottleneck.
Existing Unbounce customers may already have enough
Unbounce's shutdown notice says its builder still supports rewriting, expanding and summarizing page text, as well as producing copy variations. If your work stays inside those pages, begin there.
This is not a recommendation to buy the builder solely to replace Smart Copy. For someone already paying for it, however, checking the available text tools is a sensible first step before adding another service.
Run a small test before moving your workflow
Use an approved brief and a piece of writing you understand well. Give each candidate the same product facts, audience and restrictions. Ask for the output you actually need, such as a revised section or a few headline options, rather than judging a polished demonstration.
Record the corrections required before you would publish. Look for invented features, changed numbers, vague promises and wording that could describe any competitor. Include the time spent providing context and moving the result into your existing tools.
Before uploading private customer information or unreleased plans, check the service's current data-handling terms and your own sharing rules. Keep important briefs and finished copy in storage you control rather than relying on one writing app as your only copy.
Choose the replacement that fits the job and survives that review. This shortlist is based on published product information; we have not run a comparative writing or conversion test.
