How this list is made
A company is listed when it has a Night Watcher profile and its latest valuation is at least $1B. This is not every AI unicorn: we add companies as we research them, and very large groups such as OpenAI and Anthropic are not profiled.
A round valuation is the figure stated when a priced round was announced by the company, its lead investor or a named outlet. A press report is a valuation reported from unnamed sources or a share sale. Talks, targets and rumoured rounds are left out. Each figure is dated, because a private company's valuation is only reset when it raises money; some here are several years old.
Total raised is shown only when a company or a named outlet states it. Companies whose sale has closed are removed; an announced sale is noted.
